In the reading, Dr. Nathan mentions how the student lounge in her dorm hall is almost never inhabited, and that most students tend to hang out in their rooms, even for viewing events such as the Super Bowl together. I live in Elwell Hall, and while this might not be the case for every other dorm hall, the student lounges on almost every floor are never empty. There are often students spending time in the lounge either around the tv hanging out, watching a game, or a movie with friends or sitting at the table by themselves or with a few others studying or finishing up some school work, often simultaneously. It's rare that any of the lounges are empty for an extended period of time and it's one of the few places I actually spend time with other residents on my floor. Dr. Nathan also notes how almost no one shows up to the events that the RA organizes, which doesn't seem to happen on my floor either. When my CAs plan an event, they usually get a decent turnout, and it's a good opportunity to socialize with other residents, whom I don't usually spend a lot of time with outside of the dorm.
